Our Legs begin in our Low Back. One chronic area is directly related to another. Proper and thorough treatment is essential in order to achieve satisfactory results.
Lower Back, Hips, Legs & Feet
(Pain... Injuries... Conditions...)
![]() Our Leg muscles, nerves and circulatory vessels begin in our Abdominal / Low Back area. Therefore, there often is a direct relationship between Lower Back Pain / Conditions and Abdominal Pain / Conditions... as well as other related problems experienced in our Lower Extremities.
Our body's tissue quality is a result of many factors which include genetics and lifestyle. And, as a highly integrated unit, these tissues contribute to other conditions, such as... lower back pain, abdominal pain, sciatica, hip pain, knee pain, and so on. How many, hip replacement procedures might have been prevented by normalizing these tissues... and thereby reducing pressure within joints?
Accidents, Falls and Over / Improper Use... are some major causes of soft tissue damage which contributes to problems in these areas. Inadequate warm up, cool down and stretching also adds to the complications.
The soft tissues that are most often injured and affected include:
Circulatory vessels & Nerves from the Abdominal area...
Nerves from the Lumbar Spine...
Contracting Muscle tissues (spasm & cramping)...
Contracting Fascial layer restriction...
(all affecting motion & tissue function)
Our body tends to not forgive or forget the effects of injuries and our neglect in caring for it. The body tries to compensate as best it can for the build up of the effects of these injuries... But, eventually we experience reduced strength, flexibility, endurance, dexterity, agility... as well as the pains and dysfunctions that often accompany it.
Because of the way we live, work and play... any functional loss regarding our Lower Limbs greatly affects our potential ability to live as enjoyably and productively as we would like.
Our body is complex...
and so too are the many chronic conditions that arise.
Proper and thorough treatment
of this area... and other related areas...
is therefore essential in achieving satisfactory results.
This is one of the Osteopathic Principles
that defines this practice.
