Pain & Dysfunction Contributing Factors

Quite often, there is more than one factor contributing to a
person's pain, restricted motion and altered physiology.
This is one of the Osteopathic Principles use in this practice.

Pain & Dysfunction...  Contributing Factors..

Ischemia...
The condition created from the lack of (or restricted) blood flow... and the resultant reduction in nutrients entering, and waste products exiting muscle tissue.

Fascial Restrictions...
Dehydration of fascia decreases the space needed within tissue... and the resultant shortening of fascia can negatively affect the proper functioning and range of movement of all tissues in that area.

Excessive Joint Compression...
Various conditions created by the decreasing length of tissues which cross a joint... and the resulting increase in intra-joint pressure.

Reduced Circulation of Fluids...
Various conditions resulting from altered circulation of fluids such as Blood, Lymphatic Fluids and CerebroSpinal Fluids.

Soft Tissue Inflammation...
Which contributes to conditions such as Tendonitis, Arthritis, Bursitis, etc.

Trigger Points...
These are areas of high neurological activity which produce pain locally... and can also refer pain and dysfunction to other parts of the body.

Neurological Complications...
Various conditions resulting from altered Nerve functioning... such as Tingling, Numbness, Loss of Strength, Generalized Pain, etc.

Somatic-Visceral Complications...
Dysfunctional MyoFascial restrictions and conditions can negatively affect Organ and Glandular functions.  And dysfunctional Organs and Glands can also have a negative effect on muscle tissues in that area.

NeuroVascular Entrapment & Compression...
Negatively altered nervous transmission or flow of fluids caused by Bone, Muscle, and/or Fascia restricting the proper functioning of other tissues.

Postural Distortion...
Anatomical and functional effects of unbalanced MyoFascial strains... such as rounded shoulders and many other postural imbalances.

Nutritional Deficiencies...
As a result of poor food choices... and also the body's inability to absorb and utilize nutrients effectively.

Behavioral-Mood Swings...
Nervousness, depression and irritability which may be related to soft tissue conditions.

When Chronic Conditions go untreated,
they not only generally become worse,
they often begin affecting other areas.
This is based on Osteopatic Principles.
