Spine - Back

Spine & Back & Related Areas

From Head & Ribs to Hips...

This area represents the 'Core'  of who we are functionally and physiologically.

It influences and defines our life and the potentials of our various life centers.

Our Central Nervous System

emerging from the Vertebral Column...

Our Circulatory System

involving our Heart and Blood & Lymphatic structures...

Our Respiratory System

involving our Lungs, Heart, Chest & Abdomen...

Our Digestive System

involving our Throat, Esophagus, Stomach & Intestines...

Our Systems dependency upon Organs & Glands

to regulate & maintain our ability to properly function...

The Bigger Picture Outside Of "The Box"...

Scoliosis-2

These areas represent who we are... psychologically... emotionally... and spiritually.  The Spine includes our... Neck... Ribcage... Chest... Upper, Middle & Lower Back... our internal Thoracic, Abdominal & Pelvic body Cavities... and all the Organs, Glands and their supporting structures that function to keep us alive & healthy.  Why choose a doctor or therapist that does not work within the bigger picture that would most benefit you.  "Back & Spine" really is much too simplistic.  Thinking in those terms causes both the patient and the practitioner to miss too much of the cause... as well as the paths toward resolution.

Distorted structural integration of our body can affect how well we function mentally and physically.  Distortions and imbalances can also affect how well the various parts of our body function together... our nerves, blood vessels, organs glands, and so on.

Some conditions involving this area include:

Arthritis  --  Back pain & stiffness  --  Chest pain & stiffness  --  Constipation  --  CranioSacral Restrictions

Degenerative Disc Disease  --  Digestive Disorders  --  Hypertension  --  Irritable Bowel Syndrome  --

Kyphosis  --  Lordosis  --  Low Back pain & conditions  --  Nerves pinched & entrapped  --

Postural & Structural Disorders  --  Restrictive & Impaired Breathing  --  Scoliosis (lateral & rotational)  --

Spinal Disorders  --  Sprains & Strains  --  Joint pain & stiffness  --  Various Visceral disorders  --

Therapy Without The Chiropractic "Crunch"...

Just a few examples of what Joel Safran has been able to do for patients...

Vertebral Re-Alignment...

Once tissues are normalized, the Vertebrae know how to cause the "correction".  This Therapy Practice uses appropriate Soft Tissue Therapies in conjunction with gentle Osteopathic techniques for encouraging Vertebral Joint re-alignment.

Rib Re-Alignment...

When Ribs "are out of alignment", my patients tell me that Chiropractic work... does not work.  The Rib is a much more complicated joint.  Gradually, we are able to resolve this problem with techniques different than those used for treating Subluxed  Vertebrae.

Respiratory Issues...

People who need their voice for the work they do, know how important a proper functioning RibCage, Diaphragm & Lungs are.  The Rib is a much more complicated joint.  Gradually, we have been able to resolve Rib issues with techniques that are different from those used for treating Subluxed Vertebrae.

Digestive Issues...

Here we are referring to Hiatal Hernia, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Liver & Gall Bladder issues... and a number of other internal matters & areas.  All this is inside of you approximately in front of your Lumbar Spine.

Neck - Shoulder - Back Pain Issues...

This is what most people think of when "Back & Spine" is mentioned.  Be assured that when these more common areas are treated by Joel Safran, they will be handled in ways more thorough & complete than patients would normally experience elsewhere.

And there are many other examples of this caliber of excellence....

Treat The Body As A Highly Integrated Whole

Because That's What it is...

Our body is a complex and highly integrated organism.  And imbalances or problems in one area most probably will adversely affect other areas.  This is one of the Osteopathic Principles that define this practice.  To be most effective, the body needs to be treated as an integrated whole.

Various conditions and pains are a result of tissue quality that is both outside (arms, shoulders, ribs, spine & back...) as well as deeper tissues within our ribcage and abdomen... in other words... our Organs.  They need attention as well.  In that way, we may more fully follow and understand the body's logic regarding conditions such as digestive disorders, abdominal pain, back pain, scoliosis, frozen shoulder... and so on.

'Soft Tissues' include everything other than 'Bones'.  Depending on the type and location of 'soft tissues', they not only enable movement and hold us together... more importantly they do this ways that enable our various Structures, Organs & Glands to maintain flexibility essential for proper functioning... and for our continued Health & WellBeing.
